Dancehall artiste Flippa Moggela was remanded into the custody of U.S. Marshals on Thursday after prosecutors moved for detention during a federal court hearing in Camden, New Jersey. Davis, whose given name is Andrew Kendrick Davis, is facing serious drug conspiracy allegations linked to cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl. During the hearing, the court also determined that he was financially unable to secure private legal representation and appointed an attorney under the Criminal Justice Act.
Federal prosecutors allege Davis and three co-accused — Damion Jones, James McBride and Clifford Brown — participated in a narcotics operation spanning from August 2025 to May 2026. According to court filings, investigators claim the case was built through a lengthy surveillance operation involving wiretaps, intercepted communications, alleged package seizures and digital evidence recovered from Davis’ iCloud account. Prosecutors further allege the conspiracy involved at least five kilograms of cocaine, 500 grams of methamphetamine and 400 grams of fentanyl.
The latest development marks another dramatic legal chapter for the entertainer, who was previously convicted in a separate U.S. drug case before being released under parole supervision in 2022. His return to custody has sparked widespread discussion across dancehall and Caribbean entertainment circles, particularly following the viral attention surrounding his earlier “Freedom is a must” statement after release.
Meanwhile, the detention order notes that Davis has not waived his right to seek bail at a later stage as the case continues to unfold. For now, the dancehall figure remains behind bars pending trial, while all allegations against him and his co-accused remain before the courts and have not been proven.
