After earning praise for the reflective Letter to the Lord, which surpassed 172,000 YouTube views, dancehall artiste Craigy T has shifted gears with the release of Boodum Boodum, the second single from his upcoming debut album. Released on June 26, the energetic dancehall track highlights a more playful side of the entertainer while reinforcing his versatility ahead of the album’s August 7 release.
Described by Craigy T as “the girl dem song fi di summer”, Boodum Boodum delivers a fun, confident and infectious sound designed to showcase another dimension of his artistry. The artiste explained that Letter to the Lord served as an introduction to his thoughts and personal experiences, while the new single allows listeners to experience a more upbeat side of his musical identity. “Mi grow wid manners, y’nuh. Letter to the Lord was an introduction into how I think and the overall depth of the album. After dat, a time get the girls active,” he said.
Produced with contributions from Kunley of Ward 21 and veteran producer Buccaneer, Boodum Boodum blends modern dancehall energy with elements of the genre’s history through a sample of General Degree’s classic Boom Boom. Featuring Marcy Chin, the track adds to Craigy T’s growing catalogue while reflecting his goal of creating an album that balances meaningful storytelling with entertaining, feel-good moments.
The strong response to Letter to the Lord has exceeded Craigy T’s expectations, opening new ears to his sound and flow. As he prepares for his debut album and an international performance schedule featuring stops in Costa Rica, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, the artiste hopes his music continues to connect with audiences while establishing him as a major voice in contemporary dancehall.
