Dancehall star Aidonia has secured another significant achievement as his 2017 hit “Yeah Yeah,” produced by Emudio Records, is featured in the new British Netflix series “Supacell.” This is the second time Aidonia’s music has made its way into a film, following the inclusion of his song “Badman A Step” in the 2023 Netflix presentation “The Black Book,” where it was sampled in the track “Violation” by Jesse Jagz and Burna Boy. The placement of “Yeah Yeah” in “Supacell” marks another milestone in Aidonia’s steadily rising career.
“Supacell,” a British superhero drama series created by Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu), tells the story of a group of ordinary Black people from South London who suddenly acquire superpowers. Unlike typical superhero narratives, “Supacell” delves deep into the characters’ personal lives and struggles, addressing themes of identity, community, and the weight of newfound abilities. In Episode One of the series, Aidonia’s “Yeah Yeah” can be heard at 7 minutes and 35 seconds during a lively house party scene, where partygoers enthusiastically sing along to the track.
Meanwhile, “The Black Book” has achieved a historic milestone by securing the top spot on Netflix worldwide, making it the first Nigerian film to do so. Within a mere week of its release, it soared to number one in 12 countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Poland, Jamaica, and even the Bahamas. This remarkable accomplishment underscores not only the film’s global appeal but also its ability to resonate with diverse audiences across various cultures.
Aidonia’s recent success with “Supacell” comes as he actively promotes his latest singles “, Drinkin‘” and “Bottles,” produced by DJ Frass and Notnice Records, respectively. The dancehall artist continues to build on his momentum, capturing both local and international attention. His latest feature in a high-profile Netflix series underscores the global appeal and enduring relevance of his music.
