Chronic Law’s federal firearms case is moving into its next major phase, with the Jamaican dancehall star scheduled to make his first appearance before a Georgia federal court on August 31, potentially facing consequences that could extend far beyond the courtroom. The 32-year-old entertainer, whose given name is Ackeme Jermane Campbell, is accused of possessing four firearms and ammunition following a November 2025 traffic stop in Turner County, Georgia. Federal authorities allege that he later acknowledged the weapons were his and had been used in music videos. Now, as he prepares for arraignment in Albany, the case could put both his freedom and his ability to continue living and working in the United States under scrutiny.

The charges stem from the November traffic stop, when authorities allege they recovered four firearms, 92 rounds of ammunition and five magazines from the vehicle. One of the weapons was reportedly stolen in Florida. The firearms identified in the case include a Smith & Wesson pistol, a Glock pistol, an S&W M&P 5.7 pistol and a Premiere Firearms PF-15 .223/5.56 rifle. Investigators further allege that two of the weapons appeared in Chronic Law’s music videos, including a pistol resembling the firearm seen in “Rich Inna Farrin” and a rifle similar to one featured in “No Check”.

Meanwhile, federal prosecutors are also placing Chronic Law’s immigration status under the spotlight. The artiste was issued an O-1B non-immigrant visa in May 2025, valid until May 2027, but authorities allege he did not obtain the special authorisation they say was required to possess firearms. He was subsequently arrested in Miami, Florida, in July on the federal charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and transferred to Georgia. A federal judge previously ordered him held in custody pending trial after prosecutors argued that he presented a flight risk and a danger to the community.

The latest court development follows a turbulent year for the dancehall star in the United States. Chronic Law was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in January before being released in March, an experience that later influenced his seven-track EP, I.C.E (Inside Cold & Empty). Days after his July arrest, he also claimed publicly that he was being “repeatedly targeted and harassed” by the same officer connected to his earlier detention. His manager, Alexandre “Bashy” Jones, has acknowledged the arrest but declined further comment while the case remains before the courts. Chronic Law is represented by attorney Ana Davide, and all eyes will now turn to his August 31 arraignment as the federal case moves forward.
