Netflix’s latest British superhero drama series, “Supacell,” has taken the streaming world by storm, shooting to the No.1 spot on their Global Chart ranking. As of Wednesday, July 10th, the series has become the most-watched on the platform, garnering widespread acclaim and attention from audiences worldwide. Adding to the series’ appeal is the inclusion of Jamaican dancehall star Aidonia’s 2017 hit “Yeah Yeah,” produced by Emudio Records, which features prominently in Episode One.
“Supacell,” created by Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu), offers a unique take on the superhero narrative. The series follows a group of ordinary Black individuals from South London who suddenly acquire superpowers. Unlike typical superhero tales, “Supacell” delves deep into the characters’ personal lives and struggles, exploring themes of identity, community, and the burdens of newfound abilities. This fresh perspective has resonated with viewers, propelling the series to the top of the charts.
Aidonia’s track “Yeah Yeah” can be heard at 7 minutes and 35 seconds during a lively house party scene, where partygoers enthusiastically sing along to the track. This feature underscores Aidonia’s international appeal and the seamless integration of diverse cultural elements within the series. It marks his second feature in a Netflix production, following the inclusion of his song “Badman A Step” in the 2023 Netflix presentation “The Black Book,” where it was sampled in the track “Violation” by Jesse Jagz and Burna Boy.
Aidonia is actively promoting his latest singles, “Drinkin‘” and “Bottles,” produced by DJ Frass and Notnice Records respectively.
