On Thursday evening, the entertainment and media fraternity turned out in droves at the popular hotspot Ribbiz on Ardenne Road in Kingston to show their support for the newly minted Grammy Award-winning duo Alex Antaeus and Julian Marley.
The duo clinched this year’s ‘Best Reggae Album‘ award for their collaborative project ‘Colors Of Royal‘ at the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Their triumph was particularly notable considering the fierce competition from esteemed contenders such as Burning Spear’s ‘No Destroyer,’ Buju Banton’s ‘Born For Greatness,’ Beenie Man’s ‘Simma,’ and Collie Buddz’s ‘Cali Roots Riddim 2023.’
The celebration of this momentous occasion saw members of the media engaging Alex and Julian in a series of interviews, delving into their perspectives on the achievement and their plans for the foreseeable future. Among the notable attendees were Bugle, Jah Vinci, G-Whizz, Nordia Mothersille, Seani B, Adam Gross, accomplished music producer Notnice (who also contributed to the project), Blacksheep, film directors Gareth “The Truth” Cobran and Damanic “Maniac” Green, as well as several social media personalities.
Released in March 2023, ‘Colors Of Royal‘ represents Julian Marley’s inaugural Grammy win, further solidifying the Marley family’s legacy in the reggae genre. His previous nominations for ‘Awake‘ in 2009 and ‘As I Am‘ in 2019 underscore his unwavering commitment to musical excellence. Julian collaborated with the accomplished producer Alexx Antaeus, renowned for his work with esteemed artists such as Earth Wind and Fire, Rolling Stones, Jah Vinci, and Yaksta.
