The 66th Annual Grammy Awards, set to take place in February 2024, have unveiled their nominations for the Best Reggae Album category. Among the contenders are Buju Banton’s “Born for Greatness,” Beenie Man’s “Simma,” Collie Buddz’s “Cali Roots Riddim 2023,” Burning Spear’s “No Destroyer,” and Julian Marley & Antaeus’ “Colors of Royal.” The Recording Academy made the announcement during its annual nominations live-stream event on November 10.
Last year’s winner was crooner Kabaka Pyramid with his sophomore effort “The Kalling“.
“The Reggae category recognizes excellence in albums of reggae music, encompassing roots reggae, dancehall, and ska. To be eligible, albums must contain over 75% of the playing time of new reggae recordings.
The final round of voting for the Grammy Awards will occur between December 14, 2023, and January 4, 2024. The winners will be revealed on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with the ceremony broadcasted on CBS and Paramount+. The Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony will precede the main event.
