Burgeoning Jamaican singer-songwriter Nordia Mothersille has officially been recognized as a certified Grammy Award-winning songwriter. Last week, the Recording Academy awarded her a prestigious certificate, acknowledging her pivotal role as co-writer on the song “Robbed,” produced by Notnice Records and featured on Julian Marley and Alexx Antaeus‘ Grammy Award-winning album, Colors Of Royal. The album, produced by Monom Records, triumphed in the ‘Best Reggae Album‘ category at the 66th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Nordia shared her achievement on Instagram, posting an image of her Grammy certificate with the simple, heartfelt caption, “Grateful.” This accolade marks a significant milestone in her emerging career, highlighting her remarkable talent and dedication to her craft.

Currently, Nordia is promoting her latest single, “Walk Away,” now available on all major digital and streaming platforms. This release comes as she continues to work on her eagerly anticipated debut EP, Broken Child, which is expected to drop later this year. Details regarding the EP’s official release date, tracklist, and production credits remain under wraps, although producer Notnice has hinted at contributions from several notable industry names.

Born in Islington, St. Mary, Jamaica, Nordia’s musical journey began at the age of ten, deeply influenced by the soulful sounds of Tracy Chapman, Luther Ingram, and Etta James. Her early passion for songwriting was nurtured through performances at Marymount High School and regular church singing, laying a strong foundation for her future in music.

Nordia recorded her first single, “Ice Cream and Chocolate Bars,” in 2017 with Reef Records. Despite being a modest hit, it showcased her raw talent and potential. Her career took a significant leap forward in 2019 when she caught the attention of renowned producer Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris through an Instagram competition, eventually securing a spot on Notnice’s “Kyng Midas” album and a contract with Notnice Records.

Her single “Sorry” from the “Kyng Midas” album received widespread acclaim, solidifying her status as a rising star in the Jamaican music scene. Demonstrating her versatility, she released “We Rise” in January 2020, featuring collaborations with prominent new-generation dancehall artists such as Daddy 1, Jafrass, Quada, and Intence. Following this success, Nordia contributed to the powerful 15-artist collaboration, “We Are,” featuring reggae legends like Etana, Richie Spice, and Julian Marley.

Nordia’s songwriting extends beyond her own performances, having penned tracks for several renowned artists. Her dedication and talent were ultimately recognized with a Grammy Award in 2023 for her contributions to Julian Marley’s Colors Of Royal album.

As she continues to release new singles and work on her debut EP, Nordia Mothersille remains a vibrant, influential voice in the reggae and dancehall music scenes, embodying the rich musical legacy of Jamaica while carving out her unique place in its future.
