Renowned producer and businessman DJ Khaled shared the thrilling moment via his Instagram account, commemorating Banton’s arrival with a nostalgic caption: “WELCOME FORWARD TO MIAMI it’s been 15 years since the ICON @bujubanton touched down in the 🇺🇸!” The accompanying video captured the palpable energy as Banton enthusiastically declared, “The Gargamel is back.”

In December 2009, his presence in the country was marred by legal woes when he was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on charges related to drug trafficking. Following a protracted legal battle, Banton was convicted in 2011 and subsequently served an almost ten-year sentence, finally regaining his freedom in December 2018 from McRae Correctional Institution in Georgia.
