Aidonia, the prolific entertainer and savvy lyricist, has been making waves with his latest project, “Occupied Mind,” saturating the dancehall space. The double premiere of visuals for “Run It Up” and “Socrates“, taken from the 23-track set produced by Banger House Music Group, further solidifies his presence in the industry.
The videos, unveiled via YouTube on Saturday night, have garnered significant attention and acclaim from dancehall enthusiasts. Aidonia’s ability to maintain versatility and a fresh sound despite his extensive tenure in the industry has been widely praised. Both videos are experiencing a surge in viewership, underscoring the artist’s enduring popularity.
In a remarkable achievement, less than 24 hours after their respective releases, both Aidonia and Masicka seized the top spots on the U.S iTunes Reggae Albums Chart, surpassing even the legendary Bob Marley. Masicka’s “Generation of Kings,” released under the Def Jam Records label, claimed both the No.1 and No.2 positions with different album cuts. Simultaneously, Aidonia’s compilation, “Occupied Mind,” secured the No.3 slot, surpassing Bob Marley’s “Legend – The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers” at No.4.
A subsequent check on Sunday morning revealed Masicka maintaining the No.1 position, while Bob Marley regained the No.2 spot, pushing one of his album cuts to No.4 behind Aidonia, who steadfastly holds the No.3 position.
Despite fans categorizing Aidonia’s project as an album, the artist clarified that “Occupied Mind” is not an album but a compilation of works recorded during a challenging period marked by the loss of his late son, Khalif Lawrence, to cancer almost a year ago.
In a poignant revelation, the “Frsh Drop” hitmaker disclosed plans for a hiatus from music after the project’s release to prioritize family, especially with the imminent arrival of his next child. Nevertheless, “Occupied Mind” remains a testament to the artist’s unwavering commitment to meeting fans’ demand for new and meaningful music.
