In a tragic incident that unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning, David Clarke, purportedly the brother of dancehall sensation Mluleki Clarke, popularly known as Jahshii, fell victim to a fatal shooting in Grants Pen, St Andrew. Law enforcement authorities confirmed the distressing episode occurred at approximately 2:05 AM.
According to official reports, David Clarke, a 29-year-old labourer, and another individual were present in a yard within Grants Pen when armed assailants approached and indiscriminately discharged their weapons. Tragically, Mr. Clarke lost his life in the hail of bullets, while the other individual sustained injuries.
Community members spoke fondly of the late David Clarke, affectionately known as “Mosiah,” describing him as a diligent and amiable young man. Testimonials affirm that he had no involvement in any criminal activities, painting a picture of a genuinely good-natured individual.
This sad incident compounds the already challenging circumstances surrounding Jahshii’s family, which came under scrutiny earlier this year regarding the investigation into the death of businessman Omar ‘Romie’ Wright. Jahshii cooperated with authorities and was subsequently released after questioning. The artist’s connection to violence was further highlighted in July when a vehicle owned by him came under attack by armed assailants following an event celebrating his birthday. Fortunately, Jahshii escaped harm, though six members of his entourage sustained injuries in the attack.
This latest tragedy underscores the need for increased efforts to address the pervasive issue of violence in communities. It serves as a poignant reminder of its impact on families and communities, even those connected to public figures like Jahshii.
