Dancehall artiste Jahshii, accompanied by his attorneys King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and Richard Lynch, voluntarily surrendered himself to the Constant Spring Police Station on Wednesday afternoon.
Jahshii had been sought by the police for questioning in connection with the death of businessman Omar ‘Romie’ Wright in Grants Pen earlier this month. Following an interview with the police, Jahshii was subsequently released.
Authorities believe that Jahshii may possess information relevant to the investigation into the killing of 45-year-old Wright. The incident occurred on June 7 when armed men allegedly attacked and killed Wright on Shortwood Road. It’s further alleged that prior to the incident, an altercation occurred between Jahshii’s mother, who operates a wholesale business in the area, and Wright, during which he threw water in her face.
According to reports, Jahshii, also known as Mluleki Tafari Clarke, argued with Wright regarding the earlier altercation. However, the circumstances surrounding Wright’s fatal shooting remain unclear. His death has created heightened tension within the Grants Pen community, given that the victim is the brother of an alleged influential figure in the area.
