Barbadian superstar and business magnate Rihanna is celebrating a remarkable achievement. Ten of her songs have surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, making her the first female artist to accomplish this milestone.
Despite not releasing a new album, the 35-year-old singer took to Instagram to express her excitement and pride, stating, “Bad gal billi… wit no new album. Lemme talk my s***.”
Since the release of her eighth studio album, “Anti,” in January 2016, Rihanna has continued to deliver new music through features and singles in subsequent years, including 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2023.
In addition to her streaming success, Rihanna received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song this year for her single “Lift Me Up” from the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Furthermore, during her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, Rihanna surprised fans by revealing her pregnancy with rapper A$AP Rocky, marking her second child. Some notable figures, including Nicki Minaj, Normani, and Landon Romano, joined in celebrating Rihanna’s achievement, expressing admiration and support through social media posts and freestyles.
In recent news, she announced her decision to step down as the CEO of her lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty. In a statement, Rihanna expressed gratitude for the impact the brand has made in the industry over the past five years and revealed her excitement about passing the reins to Hillary Super, the new CEO, who will lead the brand towards further expansion and consumer engagement.
This decision coincides with Savage X Fenty’s plans to expand beyond e-commerce, as the brand has already opened seven stores in various U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas, and Atlanta, signalling a new chapter for the brand’s growth and development.
