Rihanna’s ANTI has officially etched its name deeper into Billboard history, becoming the first album by a Black female artist to spend a total of 10 years on the Billboard 200 chart. Originally released in January 2016, the project marked a bold sonic departure for the global superstar, embracing R&B, soul and alternative textures that redefined her artistic direction and reshaped expectations for mainstream pop releases. What began as a stylistic risk has now evolved into one of the most enduring catalogue performances of the streaming era.

The album’s commercial trajectory was unconventional but powerful. ANTI debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 before surging to No. 1 in its second week, where it spent two non-consecutive weeks at the summit. Over time, it transitioned from a frontline release into a long-tail streaming powerhouse, consistently re-entering and maintaining presence on the chart. Its longevity milestones include surpassing 200 weeks on the Billboard 200—another historic first for a Black female artist—and later crossing 300 weeks, before ultimately extending its run into a full decade of chart presence.

Much of the album’s staying power is anchored in its hit singles and cultural footprint. “Work” featuring Drake dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks at No. 1, while “Needed Me” and “Love on the Brain” became sustained radio and streaming staples. These records helped fuel ANTI’s multi-year commercial endurance, contributing to its multi-platinum certification status and its continued consumption across digital platforms. The project has since accumulated billions of streams globally and is certified multi-platinum in the United States.

Beyond numbers, ANTI is widely regarded as one of Rihanna’s most critically acclaimed and influential bodies of work. It is frequently cited among the defining albums of the 2010s, praised for its cohesion, vocal vulnerability and genre fluidity. Its 10-year Billboard 200 milestone underscores not just commercial success, but cultural permanence—cementing ANTI as a landmark project that helped reshape how longevity is measured in the modern music industry.
