After the recent fish kill at Reach Falls in Portland, dancehall star Popcaan expressed his outrage on social media towards the individuals responsible for poisoning the river.
After the fish kill incident, the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) temporarily closed Reach Falls. Anthony McKenzie, Director of Environmental Management and Conservation at the National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA, believes that pesticides used to catch crayfish may have led to the contamination of the river. As a result, the location now has an unbearable stench.
Known for speaking out on social issues, the Unruly Boss took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday to vent his frustration. He shared an article from a local tabloid and wrote:
“Man them stop poisoning the river them an go s**k unu m**a. Poison a whole river for your own personal gain.”
Reach Falls’s closure is expected to negatively impact local vendors and their families who rely on the area as a source of income. It remains to be seen what steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
