From Bounty Killer and Agent Sasco to Jahmiel, Bugle and Tifa, some of reggae and dancehall’s best-known personalities have worn designs by Vaunter, helping the Jamaican-led fashion brand build wider visibility as it expands beyond its New York base. The company has rolled out mobile outlets in New York, Connecticut and Boston, established its first small boutique outlet in Portmore, Jamaica, and is now eyeing Florida as its next market.
Founded in 2006 and led by Jamaican designer and managing director Orret “Mr Vaunter” McKenzie, the fashion brand has steadily built a presence at the intersection of Caribbean music and urban style. Among the entertainers and industry personalities who have worn Vaunter designs are Jah Vinci, Jahmiel, Mr Lexx, Agent Sasco, Ward 21, Mr Easy, Tifa, Harry Toddler, Zumjay, Tanto Blacks, Munga Honorable, Noah Powa, Bugle, Bounty Killer, Mr Peppa, Safari and Naro of The Fix. The growing list has helped introduce the brand to audiences across the reggae and dancehall community and wider Caribbean diaspora.
“It’s amazing and encouraging to see all the support from these artistes and industry personalities, which has helped to introduce the brand to an even wider audience,” McKenzie told Prism Marketing Consultants. “To all the people who have supported me from day one, I am forever grateful. We have some amazing things on the horizon, so just stay tuned.”
The latest expansion marks another chapter for Vaunter, which blends streetwear influences with a tailored fashion edge across clothing and accessories for men and women. The brand is currently preparing to relaunch its official website, while a new wave of designs, including statement and custom pieces, is expected as summer unfolds. The developments follow Vaunter’s continued push to grow beyond its Brooklyn roots while strengthening its presence in Jamaica, where McKenzie previously showcased pieces from the brand at the Kingston launch of Bugle’s fifth studio album, Apex, in 2024.
With a growing celebrity clientele, an expanding retail footprint and new designs on the way, Vaunter is positioning itself for a bigger presence in both Caribbean fashion and entertainment culture. As the brand moves towards Florida and develops its boutique strategy in Jamaica, McKenzie’s message is simple: there is much more to come.
