Vybz Kartel is once again dominating dancehall headlines as his latest album, God & Time, debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart days after the entertainer secured five nominations at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards. Featuring collaborations with Wizkid, Spice, Shenseea, Skillibeng, Mavado and Farruko, the project marks Kartel’s 12th entry on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and has already sparked discussion among fans about whether the dancehall icon deserved an even higher debut position.
Released on June 5 through TJ Records and Vybz Kartel Muzik, God & Time continues Kartel’s long-standing relationship with the Billboard charts while reinforcing his relevance in today’s global music landscape. The album blends dancehall with Afrobeats and Latin influences, reflecting the increasingly international direction of Caribbean music. Meanwhile, the project’s feature-heavy track list has generated strong online conversation across Jamaica, the U.S. and the U.K., with supporters praising the entertainer’s consistency and cultural influence.
The Billboard success arrives during another major moment for the deejay, who recently earned five nominations at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards. Kartel is nominated for Dancehall Album of the Year for Viking, Dancehall Song of the Year for “God Is the Greatest”, Dancehall Collaboration of the Year for “New Gear” with Skillibeng, Male Dancehall Artist of the Year, and the fan-voted People’s Choice Award. The nominations further cement his status as one of dancehall’s most impactful figures despite decades in the industry.
To date, Kartel’s highest-charting project on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart remains King of the Dancehall, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 2016. His previous chart entry, First Week Out, reached No. 8 in August 2024. However, with God & Time now securing another top 10 debut and conversation around the album continuing to build online, Kartel’s latest run suggests the dancehall veteran still commands one of the genre’s most loyal and engaged fanbases worldwide.
