On Friday evening, dancehall star Aidonia announced the second concert in his highly anticipated 20th Anniversary celebration series. The deejay, known for hits like Yeah Yeah and Banga, will bring the celebration to his homeland with a massive show at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on May 10, 2025. This follows the first leg of the series, set to take place at the UBS Arena in New York on May 3. While the Jamaican lineup remains under wraps, the event is expected to showcase some of the biggest names in dancehall, much like its New York counterpart, which boasts stars such as Sizzla Kalonji, Cham, Spragga Benz, Mavado, Govana, Jada Kingdom, and Shenseea.
Aidonia shared the announcement via Instagram, revealing that Tier One tickets for the Kingston concert are already available, with general admission priced at JMD $3,500 and VIP access at JMD $7,500. The selection of Sabina Park—a venue with a rich history of hosting cricket matches and major entertainment events—underscores the magnitude of this celebration. “This concert is not just about me; it’s about the fans, the culture, and the journey,” Aidonia previously stated. With Jamaica’s vibrant entertainment industry generating billions annually and contributing to over 4% of the country’s GDP, this event is not just a milestone for Aidonia but a testament to the enduring global appeal of dancehall music.
The New York show, set to unfold at the 19,000-capacity UBS Arena, has already generated immense buzz, with reports indicating that tickets are going quickly. Aidonia’s career, spanning two decades, has seen him evolve from an underground sensation to a household name, cementing his legacy in dancehall. He continues to remain relevant with new music, including Waste Har Time, the Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor-produced Agony, and Guh Hard, the latter a collaboration with rising star Dee Dre, which has been gaining traction on streaming platforms.
With back-to-back concerts in two major markets, Aidonia’s 20th Anniversary series is shaping up to be one of the biggest dancehall events of the year. As the countdown begins for both shows, fans in Jamaica and abroad eagerly await what promises to be a historic celebration of music, culture, and resilience.
