Following Friday’s announcement by dancehall star Aidonia that the second concert in his 20th Anniversary celebration series would take place at Sabina Park in Kingston, fans were treated to another major revelation on Sunday. Reggae firebrand Capleton, also known as King Shango, has been confirmed as the first of several headlining acts for the May 10th event. Known for his electrifying stage presence and powerful messages of upliftment, Capleton’s addition to the lineup elevates anticipation for what is shaping up to be one of the biggest live music events in Jamaica this year.

Capleton, a cornerstone of reggae and dancehall, has been a dominant force in the industry for decades, delivering anthems like Jah Jah City, Who Dem?, and That Day Will Come. His influence extends beyond music, as he remains one of the most respected voices in Rastafarian culture and conscious reggae. His energetic performances and unwavering commitment to social commentary have earned him a loyal following worldwide. “Jamaica’s music is a voice for the people, and it’s always an honour to be part of something that celebrates the culture,” Capleton once said about his role in the industry. His inclusion in Aidonia’s milestone concert not only adds legendary status to the event but also underscores the unifying power of reggae and dancehall.

The Kingston show follows the first leg of Aidonia’s anniversary series, set for May 3 at the UBS Arena in New York. That concert boasts an all-star lineup, including Sizzla Kalonji, Cham, Spragga Benz, Mavado, Govana, Jada Kingdom, and Shenseea. With tickets for the 19,000-capacity venue reportedly selling fast, expectations are high for an unforgettable night of dancehall excellence. Aidonia, known for hits like Yeah Yeah and Banga, has emphasized that these concerts are about more than just his career—they’re a tribute to the genre and its evolution over the past two decades.

In Jamaica, where music is deeply embedded in the culture and contributes significantly to the economy, Aidonia’s Kingston concert is expected to draw thousands of fans eager to witness history in the making. Tier One ticket prices have been set at JMD $3,500 for general admission and JMD $7,500 for VIP. With Capleton leading the charge as the first headliner announced, and more names yet to be revealed, the Sabina Park event is poised to be a landmark moment in dancehall and reggae history.
