Malie Donn is officially turning his Van Cleef breakthrough into an album moment. As the hit continues to hold the No. 1 spot across five Apple Music markets, the Jamaican dancehall artiste’s debut studio album, The Golden Child, has made an immediate impact by debuting at No. 4 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums Chart. The September 4 release via VP Records marks another major milestone in what is quickly becoming the biggest year of the deejay’s career, with Van Cleef continuing to drive his momentum while the new project begins making its own commercial impact.

Van Cleef is currently No. 1 on Apple Music in five countries, while Vancleef Pt 2 is also enjoying strong multi-territory success. The sequel has reached the Top 10 across several Caribbean markets, including Jamaica, where it has found additional traction on YouTube. The momentum has also lifted Malie Donn’s wider catalogue, with older releases such as Cups Up continuing to chart across multiple countries. On Apple Music’s Jamaica Top Songs chart, Van Cleef was still sitting at No. 2 on September 4, while Vancleef Pt 2 held No. 3, highlighting the scale of the artiste’s simultaneous chart presence.

The Golden Child rollout follows months of growing anticipation. In an interview with Angela Yee, Malie Donn described the project as a reflection of his journey and the obstacles that helped shape him. The album also includes collaborations with Squash, Byron Messia and Antuwang, adding further weight to a project that represents his first major studio statement. While early reports announced a 20-track album, Apple Music’s released version currently lists 21 songs.

With Van Cleef still dominating internationally, Vancleef Pt 2 holding its own and The Golden Child opening in the Top 5 of the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums Chart, Malie Donn is no longer simply riding the wave of one breakout hit. He is building a catalogue-driven moment, and the numbers suggest The Golden Child could be the project that takes his career to another level.
