Romain Virgo’s star power reached new heights on Thursday night (August 28) as he walked away with the Male Reggae Artiste of the Year award at the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards, held at the iconic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn. In a category stacked with heavyweights such as Buju Banton, Sizzla Kalonji, Tarrus Riley, Gramps Morgan, Anthony B, Pressure Busspipe, and rising sensation YG Marley, Virgo’s win was both hard-fought and well-deserved. His soulful artistry, consistent output, and electrifying performances have cemented him as one of the most compelling voices in modern reggae.

This triumph adds to what has already been a defining year for the “Love Doctor” singer. Just weeks from now, Virgo will be honoured at the 2025 Grammy Certificate Ceremony in Kingston on September 13, where he will be celebrated for his contribution to the Grammy-nominated project The Reggae Power (2014) alongside T.O.K. The event, staged by Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd., The Royalty Network Inc., and Steely & Clevie Productions, is a red-carpet showcase that shines a spotlight on the often-overlooked contributors to Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated works. CEO Kennedy Mensah lauded Virgo’s journey, stating, “Rarely does a day go by that we are not basking for some reason in the mature, world-renowned artist that Romain has become. This is but one small way that we can help highlight Romain Virgo as he steps into his greatness.”

Virgo’s recognition comes on the heels of a successful European tour earlier this year, where he captivated fans across 16 shows in intimate venues, bringing his smooth vocals and emotional storytelling directly to audiences. The tour not only reaffirmed his global appeal but also hinted at a new creative chapter, with Virgo teasing that fresh music and even a new album could be on the way before 2025 closes.

From headlining sold-out shows to receiving industry honours on two of reggae’s biggest stages—the Caribbean Music Awards and the Grammy Certificate Ceremony—Virgo’s trajectory reflects both his artistry and his ability to bridge reggae’s rich tradition with contemporary audiences. His collaborations, including last year’s standout with Masicka, have further showcased his versatility, proving he can seamlessly weave between soulful reggae and dancehall’s grit.

For reggae lovers worldwide, Romain Virgo’s 2025 is shaping up to be nothing short of historic. With accolades, international recognition, and new music on the horizon, the singer is not just basking in the glow of success—he’s building a legacy that resonates far beyond the Caribbean.
