Just days after co-hosting and winning the coveted ‘Artist of the Decade – Female’ award at the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards in Brooklyn, New York, Spice has now added another feather to her cap: her first Silver certification in the United Kingdom. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded this honour for her 2014 track “So Mi Like It,” recognizing sales of over 200,000 units in the UK. This comes on the heels of the song earning a Gold certification in Canada, surpassing 40,000 units sold.
“So Mi Like It,” produced by Notnice on the Boom Box rhythm compilation, is a defining track in Spice’s career, encapsulating her energetic style and lyrical prowess. The song’s enduring popularity has contributed significantly to her recent achievements, including surpassing one billion collective views on her official YouTube channel. Leading this impressive tally is “Go Down Deh,” her blockbuster collaboration with Shaggy and Sean Paul, which has amassed a staggering 274 million views and achieved platinum status in Canada. Notably, “Go Down Deh” is also the most streamed song by a Jamaican-born female artist on Spotify, with over 230 million streams.
These milestones coincide with the release of Spice’s third studio album, “Mirror 25,” which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The album, featuring 25 tracks, celebrates her 25-year journey in dancehall and is a testament to her evolution as an artist.
