The reigning queen of Dancehall, Spice, continues to make waves with her third studio album, Mirror 25, which has debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Released on August 9, 2024, under Spice’s imprint, the album is a star-studded collection featuring collaborations with Busta Rhymes, Chronic Law, Lola Brooke, Jada Kingdom, Patoranking, Pamputtae, and Ky-Mani Marley. This marks Spice’s fifth entry on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, solidifying her presence as a leading force in the genre.
Mirror 25 has already achieved notable success, with three UK Official Chart entries, including peaking at No.12 on the Independent Albums Breakers chart, No.15 on the Official Albums Download chart and two Billboard entries since its release. It stands out as the only album by a female dancehall artist this year to secure multiple chart placements across different regions. Reflecting on her 25-year career in the industry, Spice designed the album to encapsulate her journey, featuring 25 tracks that act as a raw, unfiltered diary of her personal and artistic evolution.
“I wanted it to represent the 25 years I’ve been in the business,” Spice shared in a recent interview with The FIX podcast. Despite the challenge of narrowing down the final selection, she revealed that over 150 tracks were recorded for the project, a testament to her relentless work ethic, honed under the influence of Vybz Kartel’s prolific output.
The album, executive produced by Spice and distributed through Empire, symbolizes reflection and self-discovery, marking a new chapter for the dancehall queen. As Spice continues to evolve, Mirror 25 serves not only as a celebration of her past but also as a bold statement of her enduring reign in the dancehall arena.
