Reggae crooner Bugle, fresh from a pair of stellar performances in Grenada alongside Sizzla Kalonji and the latter at the 2023 staging of STING as part of the “10 Giants” in Reggae and Dancehall segment held at the Jam World ground in Portmore, St. Catherine, has now shifted his focus from the stage back into the recording studio.
The prolific singer and songwriter is currently in album mode as he commences work on his fifth studio effort. Though still in its infancy, the project is expected to be released this summer, tentatively in August 2024. According to Bugle, he has several potential collaborations in the works. When quizzed about possible names, the “LIV” hitmaker stated that he is not at liberty to disclose them presently but will provide more information once the project is closer to completion.
“I can’t say much at this time, but I have collaborations in the making. Once things are complete, we can disclose more,” he told Prism Marketing Consultants.
The forthcoming album will follow his fourth studio effort, “Toxicity,” released in October 2021 on the An9ted Entertainment imprint. It featured appearances from Julian Marley, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Jahmiel, Jesse Royal, Nation Boss, Tony Gold, and Kabaka Pyramid.
Meanwhile, with the start of 2024, work has also begun for recording artist and dancer Ding Dong on his debut album, which is expected sometime this year. Known for his exciting compositions and energized performances, the anticipation for this project from the artiste, whose given name is Kemar Ottey, is palpable. It will be interesting to see what the Ravers head honcho will serve up on this inaugural project despite being a staple on the dancehall scene.
Having one of the best years of his career, Ding has been pleading with his peers for unity and more collaborative projects to advance the genre and unify the nation, especially in light of the latest revelation of statistics by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which shows that over 1,300 Jamaicans were violently killed in 2023.
