Two decades after his breakout hit Badman Forward Badman Pull Up revolutionized dancehall’s party scene, Ding Dong is finally ready to drop his long-awaited debut album. In an interview with Billboard, the entertainer revealed that From Ding Dong to the World Ding will arrive on May 2, 2025, marking a milestone moment in his career as he transitions from dancehall’s premier dance ambassador to a full-fledged recording artist.
“This album is the evolution of Ding Dong,” he told Billboard. “I want to show people that I am a rounded artist, not just a dancer.” Known for pioneering high-energy anthems that inspire viral dance trends, Ding Dong, given name Kemar Ottey, has become one of the genre’s most consistent hitmakers. His ability to keep the dancehall movement alive is evident in his collaborations with top-tier artists like Skeng, Skillibeng, Govana, and even Grammy-nominated rap icon Busta Rhymes, all of whom contribute to the 13-track album.
The project’s lead single, Street Jump, is a high-octane track that samples Kris Kross’ 1992 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit Jump. Featuring Skeng, the song blends nostalgic hip-hop influences with Ding Dong’s signature dancehall energy, creating what could be another global party anthem. The single’s music video, released on March 27, has already racked up thousands of views, proving that fans are eager for his next move. Ding Dong even revisits his iconic past by including a remix of Badman Forward featuring Skillibeng, reinforcing his role in shaping dancehall’s evolution.
With dancehall streaming numbers growing—Spotify reported a 27% increase in dancehall consumption globally in 2024—Ding Dong’s debut album arrives at a time when the genre is once again commanding international attention. His journey from dancer to artist echoes the rise of legends like Beenie Man and Elephant Man, both of whom he cites as influences. Now, as he finally takes center stage with a full-length project, Ding Dong is poised to cement his legacy not just as a dancer, but as one of dancehall’s defining voices.
