Ventrice Morgan, better known as Queen Ifrica, was recognized as a recipient of the 2023 Reggae & Dancehall Music Entertainment Icon Award & Hall of Fame Induction at the 8th annual Black-Tie Gala & Fundraiser hosted by the Young, Gifted & Black™ (YGB) Entrepreneurial Awards.
The event was held at the luxurious Terrace on the Park in Queens on February 22, 2023. Due to scheduling conflicts, Queen Ifrica could only accept her awards virtually on the event night. However, YGB arranged a private meet & greet reception at the ROK Hotel Kingston by Hilton, where she was presented with her prestigious honours in person.
In addition to the awards, she was also presented with a US Congressional Proclamation from Hon. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, a NY Senate Resolution from Hon. Sen. Kevin Parker, and a Mayoral Citation from Hon. New York City Mayor Eric L. Adams.
According to YGB, Queen Ifrica was chosen as an honoree due to her significant contribution to Caribbean culture through her spiritually empowering anthems. She was one of two Hall of Fame inductees, the other being the 2023 Trinidad Carnival Road March King, Bunji Garlin and his wife, Fay Ann Lyons, 2023 Road March Queen.
Spice, the Queen of Dancehall, was recognized as the Dancehall Impact Artist of the Year ICON Award winner and received the most votes from fans within the category. Carl Gray, the Founder and President-Chairman of YGB Entrepreneurial Awards, Inc., emphasized the importance of recognizing a talent like Queen Ifrica, who has significantly impacted the music industry.
