In response to the grave accusations of sexual abuse levelled against him by his daughter, Ventrice “Queen Ifrica” Morgan, renowned Jamaican singer Derrick Morgan has taken legal action by enlisting the services of attorney-at-law Charles Ganga-Singh.
The allegations came to light in August 2023 when Queen Ifrica went Live on social media, publicly accusing her father of rape. Notably, she claimed that the incident occurred at his residence, shedding light on the personal inspiration behind her well-known single, “Daddy.”
In a public rebuttal, Derrick Morgan vehemently denied the allegations, confronting his daughter directly through various media channels. In a particularly contentious instance, he shared a video of Queen Ifrica with a caption denouncing her credibility and character. He asserted, “Queen I Freak Ya’, you are a disgrace to the Morgan Family. You are a wealth of lies and accusations; that is why our lawyers are on the case.”
In a unified front, the Morgan family has rallied behind Derrick Morgan, particularly his sons Merrick and Courtney. Both have publicly accused Queen Ifrica of mischief, with Merrick stating, “We have retained the services of Charles Ganga-Singh to represent the defamation case against Ventrice.”
Derrick Morgan, an 84-year-old music icon, achieved fame in the 1960s and 1970s in the rhythm and blues and ska genres. Collaborating with legends like Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff, he is celebrated for timeless classics such as ‘Forward March,’ ‘Don’t Call Me Daddy,’ ‘In My Heart,’ and ‘Be Still.’ The legal proceedings cast a shadow over the legacy of this influential figure, underscoring the gravity of the allegations and the familial rift they have engendered.
