Reggae fans in Australia are in for a treat this March as Jamaican singer Protoje makes his highly anticipated debut at WOMADelaide. Known for his conscious lyrics and modern roots reggae sound, the Grammy-nominated artist is gearing up for his first-ever performance in the region, marking a significant milestone in his career. “I’ve never been to that part of the world,” Protoje shared. “So anytime I’m able to go somewhere I’ve never been before, it’s like a milestone.”

Protoje, who has helped redefine reggae with hits like Who Knows and Blood Money, will be backed by his longtime band, Indiggnation. The group has been touring together for over a decade, bringing authentic Jamaican sounds to global audiences. “It’s just crazy to bring some reggae music to Down Under, as they call it,” he said. “My heart is open to be inspired.” His performance at WOMADelaide underscores the festival’s commitment to diverse, world-class music.

For over three decades, WOMADelaide has stood as Australia’s premier celebration of global culture, blending music, dance, and arts in the lush surroundings of Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla. This year’s lineup includes industry giants like PJ Harvey, German composer Nils Frahm, and Portuguese fado singer Mariza. Beyond the music, festival-goers can engage in thought-provoking discussions at The Planet Talks, savour international flavours at Taste the World, or explore Australia’s Native Table, an immersive dining experience showcasing bold native flavours.

With over 90,000 attendees expected, WOMADelaide continues to be a cultural cornerstone, offering a unique fusion of artistry and activism. As Protoje steps onto the Australian stage for the first time, reggae lovers and curious festival-goers alike will witness the genre’s powerful influence in a setting that celebrates global sounds. “I’m sure I’ll be feeling very up for when I’m there,” he added. One thing is certain—WOMADelaide 2025 will be a festival to remember.
