Dancehall heavyweights Masicka and Teejay are basking in the success of their latest hit, “Never Complain,” which has shot to the top of the YouTube Trending Music Chart in Jamaica. Since its premiere on October 25, the music video has captivated audiences, racking up over 1.1 million views in a matter of days. The visual’s high-energy production and seamless collaboration between two of the genre’s most noted stars have quickly made it a favourite among fans and sparked conversations across the dancehall community.
Amid this surge in attention, Masicka took to social media on Thursday, October 31, to stoke even more excitement. The dancehall artist announced that his next project would drop on December 4, promising fans what he describes as his “best work yet.” Sharing the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, Masicka’s post read, “New project December 4. Best work yet.” This announcement comes at a pivotal time for the artist, following a string of impressive career milestones that have further solidified his place at the forefront of dancehall music.
Back in August, Masicka claimed the prestigious Dancehall Album of the Year award for his sophomore release, Generation of Kings, which continues to gain traction on streaming platforms. In September, he made waves on the international stage when R&B superstar Usher and Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall brought him out for a surprise cameo at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, during Usher’s “Past, Present, and Future“ world tour. The appearance ignited the crowd, showcasing Masicka’s growing influence and his ability to blend seamlessly with global acts.
His reputation as a lyrical force was further reinforced later that month when dancehall legend Vybz Kartel endorsed Masicka as one of the genre’s top five lyricists. During an interview on The Brando Music Review Show, Kartel named Masicka alongside artists like Aidonia, Chronic Law and Skillibeng, acknowledging the younger deejay’s undeniable talent. “Big up Masicka, my dawg dem affi live… Hear the fifth lyricist deh weh mi vote een,“ Kartel declared on a TikTok live chat, putting any doubts to rest and igniting conversations among fans.
