Emerging dancehall artiste Daddy1 is returning to the dancehall scene with his latest single, “Alopecia.” Since its release two weeks ago, the track has garnered substantial attention, securing the No. 9 spot on Jamaica’s YouTube Music Trending chart with over 478,000 views.
The entertainer, whose real name is Adrian Daley, stepped back from the spotlight to focus on his family, particularly his new role as a father. In a candid conversation with The FIX podcast, the Montego Bay native shared that his hiatus was a deliberate choice to spend quality time with his son and family. Now, refreshed and re-energized, Daddy1 is ready to reclaim his position in the music industry.
During the podcast, the deejay revealed plans for an ambitious slate of new releases over the coming months. He also hinted at three major projects currently in the works: an album, an EP, and a mixtape. Although he remained tightlipped about specific release dates, he assured fans that these projects would be unveiled in due course as he continued refining his craft in the studio.
Reflecting on his time away from the scene, Daddy1 emphasized that the break was not just about personal growth but also a period of artistic development. “The time away was used to hone my talent,” he said, noting that this growth and maturity are evident in his latest releases.
Daddy1 initially rose to fame as a member of the 6ix collective, a prominent group in the Jamaican music landscape. His early hits, such as “Anthem” and “Custom,” captured the vibrancy of life in Jamaica, characterized by energetic beats and impactful lyrics. As part of the 6ix musical outfit, he enjoyed a wave of popularity prior to the pandemic, which set the stage for his current resurgence.
