Reggae icon Marcia Griffiths has graced the music scene with her latest masterpiece, the ‘Golden Album,’ which promises to be a timeless classic.
Released on September 8 through Kemist Music/Donsome Records, this album features 11 original tracks produced by renowned names in the industry, including Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, Clive Hunt, Donovan Germain, her son The Kemist, and Adrian Hanson for Donsome Records.
After recently completing an extensive tour across Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean, Griffiths shared her sentiments about this new album. She passionately emphasized that music is ageless, vowing to sing as long as she lives and to continue spreading her powerful message through her songs.
“Music is ageless. I shall sing as long as I live…the message is there, and I shall spread that message,” she declared.
Two tracks from the ‘Golden Album,’ ‘Let’s Talk About Music‘ and ‘Beer And A Girl,’ have already been released, both produced by Donovan Germain, with whom Griffiths has enjoyed a long and fruitful collaboration. Damian Marley took the reins for ‘That Part of Me,’ while Clive Hunt directed her on ‘Slide,’ a song written by Omi of ‘Cheerleader’ fame. Adrian Hanson contributed to the album with ‘Time Away,’ a collaboration with Turbulence, and ‘Black Tears,’ while The Kemist showcased his talent alongside his mother on ‘Dont Say Nuttin.’
Notably, Silly Walks Discotheque from Germany, renowned for producing Chronixx’s hit ‘Smile Jamaica,’ produced ‘Holding You Close‘ on the album.
The release of the ‘Golden Album’ preceded Griffiths’ five-city tour of Japan, where she is scheduled to perform in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagasaki, Nagoya, and Hiroshima. Japanese fans, who last welcomed her five years ago, can look forward to experiencing the magic of ‘Golden Album’ live.
Upon returning to Jamaica in October, Marcia Griffiths is set to receive the Order of Jamaica, the country’s fourth-highest honour, adding another prestigious accolade to her illustrious career.
‘Golden Album’ is distributed by RhythmZZ Digital Distribution and is now available worldwide on all major distribution platforms. This album is a testament to Marcia Griffiths’ enduring legacy in the world of reggae music.
