Erica Mena, a former fixture on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop” franchise, has been ousted from the show following her use of a racial slur against fellow co-star, Spice.
This decision was made public by the show’s official social media account on Saturday. Mena, a 35-year-old model turned reality star, had engaged in a heated argument with Spice during an episode, during which she referred to Spice as a “f***ing blue monkey.”
The show’s statement emphasized its commitment to addressing challenging issues within the community and revealed that the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks would be depicted in the final three episodes of the season. Furthermore, it declared that she would not be part of the next season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”
The altercation between Mena and Spice unfolded after Spice implied that Mena’s son didn’t love her, leading to Mena flipping over a table angrily. While there were immediate calls from viewers for Mena’s removal, it has been suggested that VH1 may exploit the conflict by retaining the footage.
Erica Mena has been a part of the “Love & Hip Hop” franchise since 2011, initially appearing in “Love & Hip Hop: New York” before joining the Atlanta edition in 2018. This decision to let her go follows her recent arrest, along with co-star Bambi Richardson and Zellswag from the “Hollywood” instalment, after an altercation with security guards at an Atlanta lounge. Mena faced charges of willful obstruction of law enforcement, simple battery, and simple battery against a police officer, according to jail records.
