In a live-stream video on Teejay’s social media page, the dancehall artiste recounted how he, along with compatriots Masicka and Malie Donn, narrowly averted a potentially catastrophic plane crash after their flight landed in Guyana.
Teejay, overwhelmed with relief and bewilderment, began recounting the harrowing sequence of events that had unfolded thousands of feet above the ground. His narrative expressed the gravity of the situation as he uttered, “Something serious just happened.” Amidst these sobering remarks, he proclaimed the reality of the divine presence: “God is real and God is good.”
As he continued, Teejay revealed the entrance of smoke through one of the plane’s windows, plunging the passengers into a state of fear and uncertainty. The tension escalated further as he narrated the pilot’s announcement of an engine malfunction, a revelation that sent shockwaves of disbelief throughout the group.
In a subsequent video, Teejay was joined by Malie Donn, and their collective humour added a whiff of levity to the intense situation. Amid laughter, they echoed each other’s sentiments, asserting, “God won’t let us die all at once,” reaffirming their belief in divine protection. The mention of the engine failure became a source of lightheartedness, with Malie Donn humorously suggesting that the plane lacked a “V6” engine.
The trio’s journey to Guyana was as headliners for the prestigious 2023 edition of the Guyana Cup, an annual horse racing event of great significance in the region. This much-anticipated event draws both local and tourist crowds, offering a vibrant day of entertainment, social interaction, and exhilarating horse racing competitions. The event is a highlight on the local sporting and social calendar, creating a festive atmosphere for spectators to enjoy the excitement of the races and engage in betting activities.
