Emerging dancehall talent Malie Donn now embroiled in controversy, has broken his silence and expressed gratitude towards law enforcement officials in Barbados after being released on Monday night subsequent to his detention on allegations of rape.
As initially reported by Prism Marketing Consultants, the Portmore-based entertainer and four members of his entourage, including dubplate practitioner Panta Son, were taken into custody while awaiting a return flight to Jamaica. The detention stemmed from a woman’s claim of rape. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. at Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport. While specifics of the allegations remain restricted, Malie Donn and his team were in Barbados for the just concluded Summa Fest 2023 showcase, where he performed at Kensington Oval on Saturday night.
The woman who made the allegation had visited one of the men at a hotel post-performance. Subsequently, she alleged that she was subjected to drugging and sexual assault by the men, leading to their detention. However, Malie Donn, whose given name is Kimalie Hylton, announced his release from police custody, indicating that authorities had determined that no crime had been committed.
The artist expressed his sentiments, stating, “Yeah man, a dat them want see, man. None stop.” His friend added, “What dem want see dem nah see it hear?” On his Instagram Story, he extended his appreciation to the Barbados authorities for their diligent investigation with the hashtags “#believe” and “#freedom.”
Following thorough interviews and the examination of security footage from the hotel, along with personal recordings, it was revealed that the interactions between the complainant and the men were unfounded. Consequently, the Barbados Police Services (BPS) cleared Malie Donn and his entourage of any wrongdoing after a swift and comprehensive investigation.

The artist is now preparing to return to Jamaica before embarking on engagements in Trinidad and Tobago in the days ahead.
