In recent times, there has been a growing trend in Jamaica, especially on the entertainment scene, where people are turning to the new hip drug ‘Molly’ for an increased high. The movement has also transitioned into the music, with several popular artists singing about and endorsing the illegal practice.
Molly is a psychoactive drug primarily used for recreational purposes. The desired effects include altered sensations, increased energy, empathy, and pleasure. When taken by mouth, effects begin in 30 to 45 minutes and last 3 to 6 hours.
A recent article published by the Jamaica STAR with the headline, “Molly’ Dealer Warns Against Using Popular Drug,” has caught the attention of dancehall luminary Bounty Killer. Showing his concern, he reposted the article via his Instagram account with the caption, “Word of advice to the young or old,”
Soon thereafter, fellow entertainer Masicka commented on the post, stating, “Any body pop molly a crackhead naturally”. The Warlord responded, “Str8 up bro sum a duppy dolly bout molly”. Masicka ended the exchange with several laughing emojis.
