Accomplished dancehall star Popcaan has announced that he will be embarking on an African tour shortly. In a message to his fans via social media platform Twitter, he wrote,
“My African tour dates and venue will be announced soon, I’m connecting with all my true unruly fans in Africa real soon.”
Popcaan, given name Andre Sutherland, is no stranger to the continent, having previously performed in several African countries, namely Ghana and The Gambia, among others, to sold-out audiences.
The announcement of Popcaan’s forthcoming African tour comes on the heels of his latest achievement, receiving his seventh silver certification in the United Kingdom for “2 Cups,” a 2019 release with Fredo and embattled Canadian rapper Tory Lanez. The certification was issued by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on Friday, May 26, 2023. Popcaan’s continued success in the UK underscores his international appeal as one of the most established dancehall acts globally.
Popcaan’s success reaches far beyond the UK shores, as he was recently acknowledged for his collaboration with fellow Jamaican Grace Jones on the album “Humanz” by British band Gorillaz. The album received a gold certification in France from the National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing.
