Despite his ongoing legal woes, currently before the U.K Privy Council, iconic deejay Vybz Kartel has gotten some good news to lift his spirit.
On Friday, February 10, “Fever“, his 2016 release featured on the “King Of The Dancehall” album, was certified Silver in the United Kingdom. The news comes courtesy of the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), which issued the certification.
Released six years ago, the official video for the Adidjahiem Records/TJ Records produced single has amassed over 27 million views via Youtube and continues to see an uptick in viewership.
Meanwhile, no stranger to controversy, it was recently rumoured that the Gaza Boss was at odds with his longtime baby mother and ex-girlfriend, Tanesha “Shorty” Johnson. The allegations stem from a video posted by her that fans within the dancehall community purport to be directed at the entertainer. The video discussed men who post pictures of their new girlfriends in an attempt to hurt their exes. Ironically, this came after Vybz Kartel had made several posts about his fiancée, Sidem Ozturk.
However, Shorty put those rumours to rest last month when she posted a loving family photo on Instagram, sending birthday wishes to Vybz Kartel on his 47th birthday. The picture included Vybz Kartel, their three children, and Shorty herself with the caption,
“😮happy birthday to my baby daddy 🥳more blessings 🥳🙏🏼💋@vybzkartel” In the photo, Vybz Kartel is seen smiling and wearing sunglasses as he holds one of his sons, while Shorty is flanked by their two other children and Vybz Kartel stands behind them.
In the comments, Vybz Kartel responded, stating,
“@shortbossmuzik Thanks me baby mada.♥️♥️♥️ Love you endless Ntn nuh change. 🥰
This show of affection indicated that there was no bad blood between the two, despite the purported rumours.
