Aside from being one of the most impactful new talents of the year within the dancehall realm, Spanish Town deejay Skeng has been steadily reaping the rewards of his labour with the receipt of several accolades.
In a recent announcement by New York-based streaming giant Audiomack the entertainer’s debut EP “Beast of the Era” was named one of the “50 Best Albums of 2202“, with “Gifted” by Koffee and Jahmiel’s “Legend” the only others Jamaican entries securing a spot on the coveted list.
Fast-forward to Wednesday morning, and the streaming platform has once again revealed some exciting news that the “Protocol” hitmaker is their dancehall pick for “Artist of the Year.”
In a multi-post featuring the artiste via their official Instagram page, they caption the event stating,
“Audiomack presents ARTIST OF THE YEAR to Skeng.
This year and for all the years to come: @skeng.don is dancehall’s rock star, the Beast of the Era.”
Audiomack is an on-demand music streaming and audio discovery platform that allows artists and creators to upload limitless music and podcasts for listeners through its mobile apps and website.
Meanwhile, on Youtube, for the month of November, the Top 5 Most Streamed Artists in Jamaica for that period show Skeng occupying the No.3 with (6.34 million) Chronic Law sits at No.2 (10.2 million), and current viral sensation Valiant holds the top spot with 11.1 million views. Rounding off the Top 5 are Masicka at No.5 (4.84 million) and Kraff Gad at No.4 (5.15 million). Vybz Kartel (4.09 million) and Alkaline (3.73 million) occupy the No.6 and 7 spots, respectively.
