Dancehall superstar Popcaan has given the clearest indication yet that his upcoming album, tentatively titled “Great Is He“, is completed, and the fans are salivating for its release.
On Wednesday morning, the Unruly Boss shared the announcement via his official Twitter account with the tweet, “Album ready now enuh!!! Bomboclaat! #DemDead #1Unrulystate“.
The post was welcomed with a flurry of comments from fans expressing their jubilation for the announcement, with one user commenting, “Legendary album,” while another asked, “Wonder if them ready?”
Further gaslighting the situation, the deejay asked, “When unu say drop it this month??” However, a fan with the username @RussianGCB was quick to offer some professional advice stating, “Do di promo run before you drop it, billboard and plaques dah time yah.”
Popcaan has been hinting at the album since last summer (August 2021) but provided no further details until February, when he revealed the proposed name.
“Great Is He” comes almost eight years after his debut album “Where We Come From“, which peaked at No.2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. His sophomore effort, “Forever”, released in July 2018, shared a similar fate regarding its placement on the abovementioned chart but also debuted at No.171 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Speaking of accomplishments, last month, Popcaan was pleasantly surprised with an announcement that his 2015 collaborative hit “I Know There’s Gonna Be” (Good Times), featuring American rapper Young Thug and British producer and disc jock Jamie xx, was certified platinum in Canada.
Featured on Jamie xx’s 2015 debut album In Colour, the single secured the certification issued by Music Canada based on conflated sales and streaming data, resulting in over 80,000 units moved.
