It appears that Grammy Award-winning rapper Nicki Minaj is not only a fan of dancehall and the broader Jamaican culture but also a big supporter of the popular entertainment podcast THE FIX.
Earlier this week, the Trinidadian superstar took to her Instagram stories to pose a question to the platform, more specifically, Naro and also controversial Youtuber King Mix Up, as she wrote,
“What did Foota think about FINE NINE? Nightly Fix? Naro? King Mix Up?”
The aforementioned platform and personalities are notorious for their unbridled opinions on topical matters within the Caribbean entertainment spectrum. Foota (aka Foota Hype) is known for his militant stance against certain unsavoury practices within the reggae and dancehall community that do not uphold the “true morality” of the genres.
In Nicki’s latest remix of Skeng’s Likkle Miss dubbed FINE NINE, the American-based rapper enlists several of her Caribbean female counterparts, namely Trinidadian soca stars Destra Garcia and Patrice Roberts, alongside Jamaican dancehall acts Spice, Lisa Mercedez, Lady Leshurr, Dovey Magnum, London Hill and Pamputtae to flex their lyricism on the potential club banger.
Throughout the song, some of the women can be heard singing about various acts of lechery that would make Foota Hype scowl at the mere thought of such behaviour.
Efforts by Prism Marketing Consultants to reach Foota Hype for a comment proved futile. However, speaking exclusively with THE FIX co-host Naro about Nicki’s question, he said,
“It’s good to know Nicki watches THE FIX and that she values our opinion.”
