Squash is now less than 30 days away from his projected release from U.S. federal prison, with the latest Federal Bureau of Prisons records reportedly moving his release date to October 27, 2026. The new date represents another major change in the Jamaican dancehall entertainer’s sentence timeline and places him considerably closer to leaving federal custody after receiving a 27-month sentence for being an alien in possession of a firearm. Earlier BOP records had placed his projected release as late as January 25, 2027, before successive reductions moved the date forward.
The development follows Squash’s legal challenge against the Bureau of Prisons, which centred on his claim that he was being denied access to programmes that could reduce his time in custody. At the time of the challenge, his projected release date was listed as May 2027, according to the latest account, meaning the subsequent changes have effectively removed almost six months from that projected timeline. His release date has since been revised multiple times, with the BOP previously listing January 25, December 26, December 11 and November 26 before the November 11 date reported in August.
However, Squash’s expected departure from federal prison will not necessarily mark the end of his U.S. legal proceedings. When he pleaded guilty to being an alien in possession of a firearm, he acknowledged that the conviction could expose him to deportation. An immigration judge is expected to determine his removal status following the completion of his federal sentence. His immigration history also includes a 2024 period in which he was held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and subsequently married a U.S. citizen. Those circumstances could become relevant as authorities determine what happens after his federal custody ends.
For now, October 27 remains a projected release date rather than a guarantee, and the focus is shifting from how much longer Squash will remain in federal prison to what awaits him once that period ends. For his supporters and the wider dancehall community, the countdown has entered its final stretch, but the next chapter of the 6ix artiste’s U.S. legal journey remains unresolved.
