Dancehall entertainer Squash has received another reduction to his U.S. federal prison sentence, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons updating his projected release date to November 26, 2026. The latest revision moves his release forward by an additional 15 days from the previously listed December 11, 2026 date, marking the third reduction to his sentence this year. While the earlier release is another positive development for the Jamaican artiste, born Andrae Maurice Whittaker, immigration proceedings are still expected to determine what happens after he leaves federal custody.

The latest adjustment comes just weeks after a U.S. federal judge dismissed Squash’s civil lawsuit seeking his immediate release from prison. The entertainer had filed a petition against the U.S. Bureau of Prisons and the warden of FCI Oakdale in Louisiana, arguing that prison officials had wrongly denied him access to sentence reduction programmes under the First Step Act of 2018 and the Second Chance Act of 2008. He also alleged that officials had incorrectly treated him as though he was subject to a final deportation order, a claim he strongly disputed.

However, the case never progressed. Court records show Squash was instructed to resubmit his petition using the court’s approved filing form after it was received in March. Although he later paid the required US$5 filing fee, he failed to refile the petition within the deadline. As a result, Magistrate Judge Thomas P. LeBlanc dismissed the case on July 16. Legal observers also questioned the entertainer’s interpretation of the First Step Act, including his argument that he should have been transferred to pre-release custody much earlier.

Despite the legal setback, Squash’s release timeline has continued to improve. His projected release date has now been brought forward by a total of 60 days since the beginning of the year, moving from January 25, 2027, to December 26, 2026, then December 11, 2026, and now November 26, 2026. The latest reduction appears consistent with sentence credit provisions available under the First Step Act, suggesting the dancehall artiste may now be benefiting from the same programmes that formed the basis of his legal challenge.

Although Squash is now less than four months away from completing his 27-month sentence at FCI Oakdale in Louisiana, his legal journey is not yet over. Deportation proceedings are still expected to begin following his release from federal custody, leaving fans closely watching to see where the next chapter of his career will unfold.
