Ayetian’s breakout year continues to reach new heights after Billboard named the Jamaican-Haitian deejay its Caribbean Up-and-Comer of the Month, recognising one of dancehall’s fastest-rising new talents. The honour follows a remarkable period in which the 21-year-old amassed 22.9 million official U.S. on-demand streams in 2025, according to Luminate, while his newly released JamPack mixtape debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums chart, reinforcing his growing commercial impact beyond the Caribbean.
Born Malik Legend Tercien, the Montego Bay native has steadily transformed from a viral teenage sensation into one of Jamaica’s most exciting musical exports. His rise began after a freestyle shared on TikTok during his days at Cornwall College attracted widespread attention, eventually leading producer Nvtzz to mentor him and collaborate on his first official release, Easy. Since then, Ayetian has built an impressive catalogue with tracks including Lawge, Balance, Tip and Wah Yo Deh Pon, the latter helping to propel him to seven nominations at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards, where he is tied as the most-nominated male artiste alongside Machel Montano and V’ghn.
The momentum has continued with the release of JamPack, a 16-track mixtape featuring collaborations with Kodak Black, Stefflon Don, Ky-Mani Marley, Skillibeng and Nvtzz. The project reflects Ayetian’s ambition to push Montego Bay’s trap-dancehall sound onto the global stage while embracing both his Jamaican and Haitian heritage. Speaking to Billboard, the artiste credited consistency for his success, saying, “It’s all about keeping consistency.” Looking ahead, he added, “I don’t have a set limit, but the primary goal is Grammys and Billboard charts. Anywhere the music takes me, I’ll go with it. Even though I’m Haitian and building my foundation in Jamaica, it’s all about the Caribbean.”
Meanwhile, Ayetian’s recent achievements extend beyond streaming and editorial recognition. His No. 3 U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums debut, seven Caribbean Music Awards nominations and growing catalogue of international collaborations all point to an artiste whose career trajectory is accelerating at an impressive pace. With industry recognition, measurable U.S. consumption and a clear global vision, Ayetian appears well positioned to become one of the Caribbean’s next major breakout stars.
