Just months after turning his widely publicised 73-day ICE detention into the EP I.C.E (Inside Cold & Empty), Jamaican dancehall artiste Chronic Law has been detained again in the United States. The entertainer, whose given name is Ackeem Campbell, was reportedly booked by authorities in Broward County on firearm-related charges on July 5, reigniting social media debate after he previously described his earlier detention as a transformative test of faith, loyalty, and resilience.

Confirming the development, the artiste’s manager Alexandre “Bashy” Jones urged supporters to allow the legal process to unfold. The reported detention marks the second time this year that Chronic Law has been held by US authorities. Back in January, the deejay was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) before being released without charge on March 26 after spending 73 days in custody.

The move follows the release of I.C.E (Inside Cold & Empty), a seven-track EP heavily inspired by that earlier experience. Released in April and produced alongside Grammy-winning producer Notnice, the project explored themes of survival, betrayal, isolation, and faith. At the time, Chronic Law described the ordeal as a defining moment in his life, explaining that the experience forced him to rely more deeply on God while reassessing loyalty and trust within his inner circle.

In previous comments surrounding the EP, the artiste said the project was created to show people that they should never lose faith regardless of the battles they face. Notnice also revealed that much of the material was written while Chronic Law was still in detention, with rhythms and lyrics being developed remotely before the producer later refined and completed the project after the artiste’s release.

News of the latest detention quickly spread across Caribbean social media on Sunday, triggering mixed reactions from fans and critics alike. While some supporters expressed concern and called for patience until more details emerge, others questioned what the development could mean for the entertainer’s US career and future performances. As the situation continues to unfold, many within dancehall are closely watching for official updates regarding the charges and the artiste’s legal status moving forward.
