Ten years after helping redefine the sound and energy of modern dancehall, Alkaline’s breakthrough album New Level Unlocked is proving its influence has not faded. The 2016 project has re-entered the Guyana Apple Music Top Albums chart at No. 8 while the Vendetta deejay’s latest album NPT continues its strong regional run, currently holding the No. 2 spot in the same territory. The rare double-chart achievement highlights Alkaline’s enduring appeal and reinforces his status as one of dancehall’s most commercially consistent acts of the streaming era.
Released during one of dancehall’s most competitive periods, New Level Unlocked became a defining project for a new generation of fans. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart in 2016 and delivered standout tracks including “ATM”, “Champion Boy”, “After All” and “Formula”. A decade later, the project is once again finding traction among listeners as renewed attention surrounding NPT appears to be driving fans back to Alkaline’s earlier catalogue.
Meanwhile, NPT continues to dominate streaming platforms throughout the Caribbean. The album has secured Top 10 Apple Music placements in Jamaica, Guyana, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, Antigua & Barbuda and St. Lucia. Singles from the project including “Gyal Good”, “Masterpiece” and “Nice & Easy” are also charting across several territories on Apple Music, YouTube and iTunes. “Gyal Good” has emerged as one of the strongest-performing records from the project, peaking at No. 2 in Guyana and earning Top 5 placements in Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago and Antigua & Barbuda.
The latest Grenada Apple Music Top Albums chart further underlines Alkaline’s regional momentum, with NPT sitting at No. 2 behind Drake’s ICEMAN and ahead of Vybz Kartel’s God and Time. In Guyana, Alkaline currently occupies two positions inside the Apple Music Top 10 Albums chart, with NPT at No. 2 and New Level Unlocked resurging at No. 8. The dual presence suggests both nostalgia and new listeners are fuelling streams simultaneously, an uncommon feat for a dancehall artiste nearly a decade after an album’s release.
As streaming continues to reshape how music is consumed globally, Alkaline’s current chart activity demonstrates the power of catalogue longevity in dancehall. With NPT pushing his new era forward while New Level Unlocked experiences a fresh revival, the deejay is once again proving why his influence remains firmly embedded in Caribbean music culture.
