“I needed a pen and paper… I had to exercise my mind,” Chronic Law recalls of his time in detention, a period that would ultimately shape the sound and substance of his I.C.E. EP. Now, that same project—crafted through reflection, faith, and forced stillness—has surged to No.1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums chart, marking a defining moment in the deejay’s evolving artistry and signalling a powerful comeback on the global stage.
The chart-topping milestone caps a wave of strong digital momentum. The EP debuted at No.3 before climbing to the top spot, while standout tracks “Like Samson” and “Prayer Work” have secured positions on Apple Music’s Kingston Top 25 at No.11 and No.13 respectively. Meanwhile, “Like Samson” continues to dominate locally, peaking at No.2 on YouTube’s Trending chart in Jamaica, with “Step Out” also entering the rankings at No.13. The official video for “Like Samson” has added to the surge, racing past one million views in just six days and now sitting at approximately 1.1 million.
Beyond the numbers, I.C.E. represents a notable shift in Chronic Law’s creative process. Known for his instinctive, freestyle-driven approach, the deejay revealed that his time in confinement forced him to slow down and write with intention. “A long time mi nuh write,” he admitted, explaining that the experience allowed him to refine his lyrics and think more deeply about his message. The result is a body of work rooted in introspection, discipline, and spiritual grounding, with themes of faith and resilience running throughout the project.
The release arrives at a pivotal moment for Chronic Law, as he continues to expand his reach beyond core dancehall audiences while maintaining his signature grit. With I.C.E. already making a strong commercial and cultural impact, the project not only documents a personal chapter but also sets the tone for what could be a defining new era in his career.
