Jayds is entering a defining new chapter in his dancehall career. Fresh off a performance alongside Aidonia at Plantation Smokehouse during Independence weekend, the artiste is preparing to release his debut album, Beast, on August 14, with the project arriving as its title-track video surpasses 1.1 million views on YouTube and “IDGAF”, featuring Aidonia, crosses 615,000 views. Now, as Jayds prepares for an upcoming assignment in Amsterdam this weekend, the artiste is taking the next major step in a journey that has steadily built since his 2021 project Wet Dreams Volume 2.

The timing of Beast is significant for Jayds, who sees the album as a response to fans who have remained invested in his music during the nearly four-year gap since his previous project. The new body of work features Aidonia and Govana, with production contributions from Haunted Music, Shakespeare Productions, Banga House Music Group, Onetime Music, 9 Miles Records, Raheem Muzik Group, TNONC, KB Beatz, Tev Records, Chimney Records, Shabba Records and T3M Music. For Jayds, the album is designed to reflect his current mindset and personal evolution.

“Beast is a resonating, awakening and self-enlightening body of work,” Jayds told Prism Marketing Consultants. “The project is inspiring and motivational, while also serving as a reaffirmation of self, purpose and personal growth.” He added that the music draws directly from his lifestyle, dreams, motivations and psychedelic experiences, which have influenced the perspective and energy running through the album.

Jayds also explained why he chose an album over another EP. “I know my fans needed more than just an EP,” he said, pointing to the time elapsed since Wet Dreams Volume 2, which he says continues to attract new listeners. “So I felt the need to give them a full album to say thank you.” That decision gives Beast added significance, positioning the project not simply as a collection of new songs but as a fuller representation of where Jayds stands creatively after years of development.

The album will also mark Jayds’ first project submitted for Grammy consideration. “Yes, this is my first project being submitted for Grammy consideration, and it will not be the last,” he said. With Beast scheduled for August 14, strong digital activity around its visuals, a high-profile connection to Aidonia, and an imminent European assignment in Amsterdam, Jayds is moving into a potentially pivotal phase of his career, with the debut album poised to introduce his latest chapter to audiences at home and beyond Jamaica.
