Dancehall artiste Charly Black taps legendary producers Dave Kelly, Don Corleone, and Snowcone for his third studio album, Good Times, a star-studded project that officially dropped last Friday. The 13-track collection blends the raw essence of dancehall with global influences, reaffirming Charly Black’s mission to push his sound to wider audiences while keeping the culture’s core intact.
Working with Dave Kelly marks a career milestone for the Trelawny-born entertainer, who has long admired the iconic producer’s impact on the genre. “I am passionate about keeping the original flavour of dancehall, and so I am honoured to have worked with these producers,” Charly Black told the Jamaica Star. Alongside Kelly, the album also features contributions from Don Corleone, Billboard hitmaker Snowcone, rising dancehall talent Jiggy D, and international heavyweight DJ Chuckie from the Netherlands, with executive production handled by Zojak World Wide.
Charly Black’s Good Times is a carefully curated project that reflects his growth and versatility. Songs like Party in Colombia highlight his popularity in the Latin and reggaeton markets, while other tracks preserve the hard-hitting Jamaican sound that first propelled him to international fame. The mix of genres underscores his ability to balance authenticity with crossover appeal.
In the lead-up to the album, Charly Black released So Good, a sensual collaboration with Dexta Daps, produced under his own Team Unstoppable Records. The August 7 release served as both a teaser and a momentum builder, giving fans a taste of the energy and variety woven throughout the album.
With Good Times, Charly Black positions himself not just as a dancehall hitmaker but as a global entertainer bridging cultures. It’s a project that celebrates the genre’s roots while embracing its potential to connect with diverse audiences worldwide.
