As the second quarter of the new year unfolds, renowned disc jock and music producer CD Master has enlisted several stalwarts while injecting new blood into Consequences Riddim, his hard-hitting reggae compilation released last Friday. The 8-track project, officially available under the Inna Mi House Music imprint and distributed by OneRPM, blends the wisdom of veterans with the fresh perspectives of emerging talents, creating a powerful sonic statement on life, spirituality, and resilience.

The lineup features a dynamic mix of reggae luminaries, including Bugle, Queen Ifrica, Chino McGregor, and Mr. G, alongside rising voices like Yahsha Elishua, Mackeehan, Lady Da Flames, and Kaizs featuring Jev. Executive producer CD Master emphasized the meticulous curation of the compilation, stating, “For me, it’s always about quality over quantity, and these eight tracks were carefully handpicked to represent the message we hope to convey through the music.” The title track, Consequences by Bugle, already known for its presence on his critically acclaimed Toxicity album, sets the tone for introspection, while Queen Ifrica’s Did You Pray reinforces the spiritual undertones woven throughout the riddim.

With reggae’s global resurgence—streaming platforms report a consistent rise in reggae consumption, with Spotify listing Jamaica among the top exporters of music per capita—projects like Consequences Riddim reaffirm the genre’s enduring impact. Notably, Chino McGregor’s Without Apology serves as a preview of his forthcoming album, signaling continuity in reggae’s evolution while maintaining its cultural roots. The instrumentation, composed by Stephen Maxwell, Kenroy “Short Man” Mullings (guitar), and Bengy Myaz (bass), delivers the authentic, rich sound that has long defined the genre.

Consequences Riddim stands as a testament to reggae’s resilience and the importance of storytelling through music. In a time when the world grapples with uncertainty, this compilation reinforces reggae’s role as a vehicle for consciousness and upliftment. With CD Master at the helm, the project not only bridges generations but also reaffirms Jamaica’s status as the beating heart of reggae music.
