Music producer ShabDon whose given name is Linval Thompson Jr, was acquitted of the illegal gun and ammunition charges against him when he appeared before a corporate area judge.
Legal counsel represented the 31-year old Thompon, Donahue Martin said his client was freed because no evidence was presented against him.
However, his co-accused, Romario Scott, represented by Attorney-at-law Tom Tavares-Finson, Q.C was not as fortunate. He was sentenced to six years and one month for the illegal firearm and four years and one month for unlawfully possessing ammunition.
Last October, both men were arrested and charged after the weapon and ammunition were found in their possession during a police traffic stop in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.
ShabDon was subsequently released and later had his bail extended despite allegations of bribing a police officer over the firearm incident.
The allegations purport that he offered a law enforcement officer J$2 million to remove an illegal firearm from his grey Mercedes-Benz before the authorities searched it.
According to the complaint, the lawman denied the purported offer before informing his superiors of the encounter. No one witnessed Shabdon’s apparent attempt to taint the proceedings.
